The common, traditional interpretation of soul urge 9 is that a person is humanitarian and selfless, or that they are focused on harmony and not a pursuit of any power or wealth. Well, I’m here to say that the majority of the time, that is not my experience with a soul urge 9 person. I sometimes wonder if every numerology interpretation is simply another recycled, copy-paste version of every website out there. Does anyone actually pay attention to the people with these numbers?
So no – I don’t find that many soul urge 9 individuals are gifted in skills of cooperation and harmony, after all, the number 9 is an inverted 6, which is the number of harmony. So symbolically, it makes sense to see some traits that are opposite of 6.
Continuing with the symbolism of the numbers, the 6 is thought to look like a pregnant belly that represents nurturing ability. When I look at the number 6, the circle reminds me of a mid-section that indicates our “gut feelings” whereas the 9 places the circle at the top which reminds me of a person’s head, putting the focus more on the intellect instead of feelings.
And that is what I have come to learn about soul urge 9 individuals. They are often extremely intellectual and sharp, many times the smartest in their group of peers. They are also the “elders” or seem to have a natural sense of entitlement towards being in charge or teaching others. Teaching is the keyword here – there is a strong urge to share their knowledge and be in the role of teacher. They often have a strong desire to go far academically, but may be resistant to learning from anyone in their personal lives.
Soul urge 9s are creative and can be very generous. They are often generous with their time and resources. If there is a situation where their knowledge or expertise is needed, they will put in long hours to help others. This is perhaps the highest expression of soul urge 9s. They need to find opportunities to share their knowledge in a way that helps others instead of just looking for respect and praise for everything they know.
Sometimes, a 9 will take on too many responsibilities for others. Their competence/intelligence and willingness to teach can put them in the position of “handling everything.” Some 9s will need to be wary of that, particularly if they have a 1, 2, or 6 as their other numbers.
Ultimately, soul urge 9s need to find a space where their knowledge can be valued, and it can only truly be valued when it is being used to help others. If not, they will become frustrated that no one cares about everything they know. They need to realize that having an audience for all their brilliant ideas is only serving their ego, instead they need to serve others.
