Meaning of Leo Svamsa

If your Atmakaraka falls in the sign of Leo in your Navamsa, you are Leo svamsa. This shows unique souls lessons you’re experiencing through the later part of your life. Usually, the themes of svamsa start to become more noticeable after your Saturn return.

“In Leo Navamsa there is fear of wild beasts.”

As with the rest of the svamsas, the classical information is very sparse. For Leo svamsa, the word to examine is Svaapada, which means one’s own place, and another definition is wild beasts. Obviously, very few Leo svamsas are having issues with wild dogs, tigers, lions, etc! They must be interpreted symbolically.

When I examine these two meanings, I can see the connection. Your own place indicates your territory, but wild animals indicate anything outside your territory. Wild animals are literally, out of your control, and out of your realm of command. Thus, Leo Svamsas are naturally uncomfortable by the things outside their influence. If the svamsa is well aspected, this gives soul qualities of leadership, righteousness, loyalty, and creativity. If the svamsa is suffering, this presents as proud aloofness, false pride, or feeling entitled to recognition but reluctant to put yourself out there.

With Leo svamsa you are learning about leadership and personal power.

There is an evolutionary intent to express your creativity and establish yourself as some authority in your field. Unfortunately, you’re having to work harder for it in this life. You are called towards personal development and recognition, whether as a creator, entertainer, or through leadership abilities. However, the “wild beasts” are the people and circumstances in life undermining your leadership. Life can present you with conflict that you feel costs you some of your respect and dignity, or perhaps others have lost their faith in you. You may feel continuously undermined by the people in your life.

Social integration tends to be an area of weakness with Leo svamsa. Your partner is more socially connected. Your spouse thrives on interaction and/ or being involved in some kind of work that seeks to serve a social cause. A strong Atmakaraka in the navamsa more easily gives you the recognition you need, but if afflicted you’ll experience feeling out of place in the social hierarchy.

Leo svamsa’s may be drawn or find some happiness in teaching, where their leadership and authority can more easily be expressed and recognized.
